Vans Warped Tour 2008

Rachel and I went to Warped tour at "Great Woods" in Mansfield, MA last night and it was pretty crazy. We were in two thunder and lightening storms with protection for the first one, not so much on the second storm, but that was during Angels and Airwaves, which was the last group. We got to see All time Low, The Briggs, Forever the Sickest Kids, Street Dogs, We the Kings, Angels and Airwaves, Relient K, Phone Calls to Home,a dn a couple others as we passed by.

It was also really fun to hang out with my friend Johnathan Berard or "B" who's band, The Coming Weak, got to play at Warped Tour this year. I haven't seen him in about 7 years and it was fun catching up.

Rachel had a great time getting pictures with some of her fav band members and I think the pics speak for themselves. I was really excited for this concert because I was supposed to go a few years back, but for one reason or another I ended up not going, even though I had tickets - I would have taken our rainy day over a hot summer day anytime, so even though we were soaked by the end of the night, we had a great time.

I got to hang out with some of the tour managers for a while because I was standing by the sound tent for a while. She wa giving me some insiders on the bands and how they all were getting the flu, including the lead singer for Relient K. Sad. But she went up closer to the stage to get pictures for me...even though they ended up being video clips and didn't so much good for me. Oh well. Enjoy!

Camp Squanto and the Dark Knight

There was a huge thunder and lightening storm the last night of his camp, which also happened to be the opening night for Dark Knight. Ray and I went out for an extra date night (the night before, we went to Rod Dee, his favorite Thai restaurant where we had our first date). The Dark Knight definitely lives up to its definition. It is one of the darker Batman movies, but is fascinating as it delves into the psyche of the human mind. It's really quite a deep look into your sub-conscious and gave us lots to think about on our drive home as we watched the orange moon hide between the clouds bearing beautiful heat lightening.

Jacob spent his 11th birthday at Camp Squanto with the boy scouts. This was his first week long, sleep away camp and he had a BLAST! (He said he only got a little homesick twice :-) He got to shoot at a target range, use arrows, had canoe wars (hence the black eye!) and got his basketry and art badge as well as his Camp Squanto badge for his scouts shirt. He is in the process of his tenderfoot badge. I have had quite the time becoming a "mom" very quickly and part of that process is sewing badges on is scout shirt. I'm so slow when it comes to home making stuff, but I am learning!

Happy 4th of July

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY

Independence Day is always filled with friends, family, barbecues, and fireworks! This year was no exception! We began the morning early at the church Pancake Breakfast, which was filled with people (despite the on and off rain storm that usually occurs on July 4th). My mom and Barry were in charge of it, being the Ward Missionaries, and were there from beginning to end, which wore them out for the rest of the day (until my mom had to go perform a show).

After the breakfast we got to relax a little bit and Jake made his first batch of chocolate chip cookies, basically by himself. They were some of the yummiest we've eaten yet! Rachel had spent the night at a friends house and they eventually woke up around 11am or so. I believe they ate breakfast at 1p.m. :-)

We headed over to a friend's house for a BBQ and enjoyed some time in the pool, eating lots of good food, playing pinball, billiards, and watching a repeat of the amazing Red Sox game that was on earlier that day.

The BBQ was really fun because I got to combine a couple of my worlds...some of my old theater friends were at the BBQ and it was fun catching them up on my new life and having everyone get to know each other.

We've also tried to make it our tradition to take a picture in front of the Citgo sign with whoever joins us. Wanna come with us next year?

We left the BBQ at about 9pm and headed into Boston. Ray has this great route he takes and we never hit any traffic, in or out of the city. We walked onto the Esplanade and had front row seats of the amazing fireworks display put on by the city of Boston and the Boston Pops. The Rascal Flatts were the guest artist this year and we had a blast. No rain this year so we were able to comfortably watch the show. We were hoping to get a kayak this year and watch them from the water, but it didn't work out. We'll try again for next year though! There are always lots of people out on the water, in canoe's, house boats, and kayak's. The music was of special selection, some good, some not so good, but the fireworks were loud and spectacular. We all had a good time and look forward to making this a family tradition!

I think Ray, Jacob, and I gave everyone a lovely singing show as a precursor to the fireworks production. We sang loud and proud for our country. "To thee I sing!"

This was our home made pizza night on Sunday and Jake making his tough guy face :-)

We hope everyone had a festive fourth of July....until next year.
